I'll begin with explaining this blog. My name is Nat. I am writing my thesis on the history of the first Canadian Citizenship Act (1947) and the discussions that took place in the months and years after the Second World War up until the Act took effect on 1 January 1947. I am trying to assess if these discussions and considerations in creating the Act included minorities and Indigenous peoples. In addition to the traditional research I have preformed to date I am also intending to compare the conclusions derived from this research with conclusions I intend to acquire through the use of the digital humanities. More specifically, I intend to run Parliamentary discussions (Specifically readings in the House of Commons and the Senate) on the Canadian Citizenship Act through textual analysis software to assess the prevalent topics of discussion, and whether they include minorities and Indigenous peoples.
